What people are saying about the book:

This workbook will surely be highlighted, dogeared, and well-worn on the shelves of therapists, parents, teachers, and children.
— Rondalyn Whitney, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, author of Raising Kids with Sensory Processing Disorders
What I like best about
this innovative text is its collaborative approach, intended to engage students in an exploration
of their own relationship to their environment, and positing them as experts of their own
experience, who can learn to monitor and manage their behaviors to better navigate everyday
life.
— Tony Gentry, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, professor emeritus Virginia Commonwealth University
I love how it is written for kids, I even laughed out loud a few times!
— Hannah Newlon, OTR/L, school-based Occupational Therapist

What exactly is a

Brain Executive?

The term “Brain Executive” was created by author and therapist, Kathryn Hamlin-Pacheco, OTR/L, when developing the Brain Executive Program. This program is targeted to educate kids and their families about sensory health and wellness, empowering them with the ability to understand how the brain works to shape everyday life and to use this knowledge to increase success and engagement.

Katie was an elementary and middle school teacher prior to becoming an occupational therapist, and she uses this background to bring the complex information to life in fun and engaging language. The concept of being a “Brain Executive” or someone who understands and manages their brain, much like a chief executive of a company understands and manages the business, offers young readers the ability to understand how they can be the expert on their own sensory health and use strategies to “help their brain work at its best.”
